Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park is amongst one of the largest national parks in Northern India. It must be understood here that Ranthambore was developed as Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955 by Indian Government. It was declared as project tiger in 1973. Subsequently it was transformed into a national park in 1980 while 1984 saw the adjoining forest areas to be declared as Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary. In 1991the tiger reserve was enhanced and it included Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary.

Ranthambore is popular world over for its tigers. In fact, it is the best place to spot tigers in their natural environ. The best time to visit Ranthambore National park is between November and May.

The park itself is situated on the edge of a plateau and is flanked by Banas River in the north and by river Chambal in south. The park also has a number of lakes and is named after the illustrious and historic Ranthambore Fort which lies within the confines of the park.

The park is popular for tigers and is known world over for its project tiger reserves. Apart from tigers some of the other wild animals found in the park are leopard, nilgai, wild boar, sambar, hyena, sloth bear and chital. The place is also home to a wide variety of trees, plants, birds and reptiles that make the place worth visiting and special.

Anyone who wants to visit Ranthambore National Park would do well to opt for Jeep Safari which would take him to every corner of the park and allow him to experience the ruggedness of jungle from very close quarters. It indeed is a life time experience to see wild beasts roaming freely in the natural habitat.

It is for all the above reasons that Ranthambore National Park is so popular amongst tourists who come from far and wide to see that side of Rajasthan that adds color and zing to Rajasthan panorama.

Testimonial

I booked a travel package of Rajasthan for me and my friend. It was a 15 day trip of India's desert state. Most of the cities we visited were well connected with national highways, providing us the easy accessibility of various places. However, some areas were congested making for us difficult to reach on time that may be because of development works on going on places. We loved our heritage hotel stays at Jaipur and Udaipur. We enjoyed the excursions of remote villages and desert. Good execution of trip.
