Amer Fort

Amer Fort

A glorious venue, Amer Fort is perched on a precipice and overlooks Delhi - Jaipur Highway. Amer Fort is distinct for the assimilation of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles of construction which becomes clear as one casts his eyes on the usage of white marble and red sandstone used to raise the structure.

Located within the precincts of Amer Fort is Amer Palace with vast gardens, splendid chambers and huge impressive rooms. The palace owes its construction to Man Sing I of Kachwaha clan and boasts of such splendid structures like Ganesh, Jai Mandir (temple of victory), Sheesh Mahal (hall of mirror) and Sukh Niwas Palalce (uses natural water flow to cool of its interiors much like an AC). These historical monuments are striking for their glorious design, and are replete with beautiful, decorative pieces.

The beautifully flowing Maota Lake adds glitter to the venue whereas its tough ramparts and the beautiful palaces make Amer Fort one of the prime places of attraction in the area.

Though the Fort has lost much of its earlier glory yet there are plenty in it to attract the visitors and take them on a roller coaster ride to the times when Rajputana glory was alive in all its grandeur.

Amer Fort as well as Jaigarh Fort, another important fort of the region and located just above Amer Fort on Cheel ka Teela on the same Aravali mountain ranges, are considered as one complex as the two remain closely attached by a passage which was constructed to provide a escape route for the royalty and others in the time of war.

Today, though Amer Fort does not yield the same position as was the case earlier yet it is an important destination and the one that demands a compulsory visit by people.

Testimonial

I booked a travel package of Rajasthan for me and my friend. It was a 15 day trip of India's desert state. Most of the cities we visited were well connected with national highways, providing us the easy accessibility of various places. However, some areas were congested making for us difficult to reach on time that may be because of development works on going on places. We loved our heritage hotel stays at Jaipur and Udaipur. We enjoyed the excursions of remote villages and desert. Good execution of trip.
